Can Reaper with multiple MIDI tracks in a project record in real time into those tracks, from Guitar Pro when using a virtual MIDI cable, and all the velocity, expression, etc, of the notes be captured? This eliminates the loss of exporting/importing XML or MIDI. The GP file remains as the "master score". If so, then Reaper could also auto-load the file upon timestamp change, so that updating notes & re-saving the file in GP will mirror the updates into Reaper. This eliminates the need to export to a separate format like XML or MIDI which causes conversion problems. Can Reaper directly load a Guitar Pro file (*.gp) and read "all" the note data to populate a set of tracks.

In Guitar Pro it is possible to add Lyrics and various text notations. For example, tempo information seems to not export from GP properly so importing always requires manually fixing the BPM.ģrd, there is data loss. I'm not sure which types of data transfer from GP export and Reaper import, of either XML or MIDI, so if I add a guitar bend or a slide or any articulation in GP, it is trial and error to see if that note has an articulation when imported into Reaper. I must finalize my work in Guitar Pro because once I start editing in Reaper, there is "no way to go back" to Guitar Pro, as the score versions will be out of sync with each other.Ģnd, it is an error-prone process.
